Do you ever read certain words that seem to just lift off a page and deeply resonate with you? This happens to me quite often. My new word I have been reflecting on is surrounded which has become one of my “life themes.”

After a quick google search, I discovered some powerful definitions:

“To group or gather people or things on all sides around someone or something.”

“To form a circle around.”

“To enclose on all sides; encompass.”

What’s interesting is this word can be either frightening or empowering depending on the context. Simply put, the very people or things that are doing the surrounding, make all the difference in the perception of this word.

I always wanted to have an art studio, and declared this would be my first new room once I had the space for it. I was super excited that I could finally make this desire a reality.

I like to call my little sacred art studio more of my healing room. It has a little dash of everything in there lol from my colorful paintings splashed on every wall to my ballet bar, yoga mat, and little travel souvenirs. Every object tells a story that has been very meaningful along my journey to the present moment.

I realized that I have literally surrounded myself with tangible reminders of my authenticity, victories, and the love of God, family and friends. The result is a room full of joyful creative energy that is so palpable it has a healing effect.

I want to encourage you to stay surrounded with people and things that give you energy and uplift your spirit. Take a snapshot and embed that life-giving space into your heart and mind.

From experience, we can’t always control our external surroundings and it’s not always cozy to leave our comfortable sacred space. I have learned, however, I can control my internal surroundings: my response, attitude, thoughts, words and perspective.

Invite the beauty of the external within and live the beauty of the internal without, and you will always remain beautifully and joyfully surrounded.

Love,

Chloe J
